2. Why read your own Tarot?

This morning I said to the Tarot …give me a writing prompt to really get going on this ‘Reading Tarot for Yourself’ work book/manual/guide

And I pulled The Hermit

I almost cheered!  Not only is the Hermit the card I most identify in the tarot deck but it is probably the most spot on description of what I think Tarot does for your life.

The Hermit has the grey beard of wisdom, and he carries his own lamp to light his way. His motto is ‘know thyself’ and so he turns inwards to find his own answers. He follow his own inner light to show him the path that is right for him.

I am always inspired by the Hermit. He’s not a loner, I always hastily say, as on first sight of this card, you might think that. I see him as more of a leader, someone who has the Integrity to trust his own instincts, and follow them. He doesn’t follow the herd, he follow his own path. It may well not be a path that everyone else is taking. It is the path to trusting yourself and living authentically.

Reading the Tarot for yourself will teach you to follow your own hunches. So often a reading confirms what we knew already but couldn’t quite reach. And so over time you gain more confidence to trust your own intuition so you can trust yourself. and live fully integrated. With integrity.

The Tarot cards are a bridge between ourselves and our own deep wisdom, a bridge to a divine intelligence greater than our own, that we all have access to, is how it appears to me.

Reading Tarot for yourself is like having a conversation with a part of you that you can listen to, because your personal ego doesn’t get in the way. After all the tarot readings I have done pulling a tarot card always connects me to an aspect of divine intelligence, a part of myself, that we are all part of. It is this divine intelligence and the magic of Tarot that I have learned to trust.
