A fish jumped out the sea…

When a fish literally jumps out of the sea in front of you…and you keep receiving the Page of cups tarot card, which has the picture of a fish leaping out of a cup….you take notice as I have been pondering its meaning since receiving it again.

the page of cups

What is the fish saying to the page of cups as it jumps from the cup?

Playful is the first word that comes to mind.

Meri playing ball

Meri tempting me to play a game with her ball

Playing tennis is my favourite game.  That and playing sticks or ball with a dog. I always used to say ‘life is a game’ and  I thought my ‘job’ on this planet was to have fun.  For years the underlying desire to everything I did was to make the world a happier place, make people laugh and enjoy life.  I had this idea that when we meet our maker, he/she asks us ‘ Well?  Did you have a good time?  Did you enjoy your life?  Did you think the world, mother earth was remarkable?  Were you glad to have been alive?

And I want to say YES. I put having fun, being fun, being funny ahead of everything.  Which worked wonderfully for years.

So when did I get so serious?  When did the need to learn, grow, mature, develop, become so urgent? Is it because TIME is running out?

When did TIME become so pressing? Always, in our family  Trying to fit everything that needs to be ‘done’ in a day…being economical with time, as with money was a family trait. It can rather take the fun out of life.

The Page of cups has got me curious, also a trait of this page, along with youthfulness and naivety.

A fish literally jumped out of the sea in front of me!  Fish, swim, water, sea, emotion, a leap of faith? Jesus and his loaves and fishes parable pops into my mind this Old Souls Sunday.  Follow your joy?  Have faith?  It was rather magical…...  follow your awe and wonder…

Some googling later for better languaging.

The Page of cups is a dreamer, and beckons the beginnings of creative urges, urges that are perhaps immature but heartfelt.

Follow a creative idea that may be in its early stages?   Follow your instincts.

The page of cups also reminds us of our inner child. What would he/she like from you? Is that the question?

I know as I child I wanted to delight my mother, for her eyes to light up at youthful ebullience.  To sit me on her lap if I needed a cuddle and a plaster. Am I being asked to be a bit less of a task master and more welcoming, more encouraging toward new creative ideas?

Children live in their imagination making up stories, inventing games, wilying away the hours building sand castles or crabbing.  Absorbed and present in each moment, just for the fun of it.  No purpose beyond that.

kids daring to run into the cold sea

kids playing. Daring to run into the cold sea, with jumpers and hats.

Perhaps I’ll try playing around for a few days and see what happens. Perhaps a swim in the sea!!

Do come and have a tarot reading with me online or in person in Battersea. I tell you one thing, it is fun, and also gives lots of food for thought that open up possiblity.
