The Death card again!
February 23rd.
Everyone is talking about the fire horse energy that has arrived!
What’s happening? Where’s this flurry of new energy? Why am I not feeling it?
Instead of feeling excited and motivated, I’m just putting one step in front of the other one day at a time and taking naps. I’ve cleared my cupboards only to be told Spring has arrived and to clear them again?
A perfect conundrum to put to the tarot cards. I decided on a three card tarot reading.
1. Present situation (where am I?)
2. Context (what’s going on? tell me more)
3. How to navigate this moment?
This is how it turned out.
She takes a good look round and uses her discernment to see the opportunity
1. The Page of Swords. The page of swords gets up on higher ground so he/she has a better perspective of his surroundings, and gets a little distance from things and uses his intellect/mind (swords) to decide what he wants and how to go about it. This is a moment to take a step forward, be strategic and look for the window of opportunity.
There is something wonderful direct about the page of swords. The page of Swords is all about seeing what opportunities are out there and being strategic, he’s going to use his mind, intellect and intention to get what he wants. His first step is to take a good look round…..
And here I am on the sofa having another nap.
Death got me to sit up! the Card of transformation that comes out of endings…
2. Context – DEATH.
Death depicted in the Rider Waite tarot deck, the King is Dead long live the King!
Well that got me to sit up! How many times have we had the death card in the last couple of months. Three times? Talk about the Tarot making the point crystal clear that we are at a definite ending and the beginning of a brand new era. And while Death brings with it transformation it doesn’t promise that it’s going to be instant. Something, someone, dies, it’s an ending, the new era is only just beginning. There is grief that goes with death, with endings. There is letting go. There is shedding. It’s a process and everyone is different. Of course there are times when we might feel good riddance. But that’s not the vibe I’m getting. I’m getting the feeling of ‘what is going on?’ yes thank goodness the old order is collapsing, but what about the chaos and misery, the world as we know does seem to be falling apart fast, everything is changing but…..and there’s the ? and perhaps why I actually feel a bit dazed by the loss of trust in our institutions, a loss of faith, what happened to our old values, what happened to simpler times before we got taken over by so much on offer from our screens and social media and now there’s AI. Even if lots of it is wonderful. And it is. I love our technology it is fabulous in so many ways. But I do have some trepidation about the direction we as a society and as humans are heading. And I haven’t begun to catch up with this fire horse energy and what it may bring, I have no idea what to expect.
Well it looks like the Page of Swords is staying prepare. take a look. Get up on higher ground and gain some perspective, see this window of opportunity and take it? Even if you don’t feel ready.
Again I am reminded of last week’s reading, which said quite categorically, DO NOT LOOK BACK, do not keep your attention focussed on the drama, look forward and put your attention (super power) on what you want to create. And how many times do we need to get the Death card to get the point.
That’s why I love the Tarot. It has a way of saying things with clarity!
It also offers the perfect advice…..Card 3 how to navigate this present situation/best way forward? Two of Cups – choose to connect to someone or something you love, be it friendship, partnership, a lover, soul mate, your work, service, hobby, let it be based in partnership, in sharing and equality, let it be seeded in the heart, in love.
What perfect advice when you don’t know what to do. Choose what you love, to share, to connect, a card of friendship, community, partnership.

I am going to choose Nature to help seed and ground me. I can’t tell you the pleasure and wonder I get from listening to bird song and seeing the daffodils wave and smile. Perhaps it is time for a new dog? Now there’s an idea
All two’s in tarot are about choice, the two of cups speaks of us about taking an emotional choice. Choose to connect to what you love and seed this new Era.
Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online. Online tarot readings work so well I find.
