What do you do when the final card in a tarot reading is negative?
What do you do when the final card of a tarot spread, the ‘where its leading?’ or ‘probable outcome’ card, is negative?
Pull another card fast!
To be fair when this happens in a reading, I always pull a ‘clarifying’ card, or a ‘what next?’ card and in this case with the 5 of swords, which is all about things unravelling, because of not tieing up loose ends, not crossing the ts and dotting the is, things being left unsaid, misunderstandings…..I take some time to ponder the meaning, and then say to the tarot well if I am conscientious with finalising things, what happens next, where will it lead? And I got the three of wands! Relief. I get myself out of there (the two of wands describes when there is choice and options) at the three level the decision is made to move on and expand horizons.
Whew.
When a card is obviously negative (I don’t know how to read the 5 of swords positively!) then my feeling is to absorb the potential of the card, the warning perhaps, and think how might that be avoided, corrected, adjusted, countered, overcome, rather than ask for a clarifying card. Although you can. And once absorbed and with an idea/action plan (in my case finish it! dont give up) then I pull a where will it lead/probable outcome?
The Question was the Judgement card. The Wake up call, coming to a crossroads, breakthrough, having an ah ha moment (in my case where I’m screaming to myself, wake up, take action, just start) as have been majorly pondering the direction I should be heading in with an increasing sense of urgency/panic, hence doing the pyramid spread.
The Essence was the Ten of Pentacles. Financial achievement/security and status, working toward your legacy..this makes it pretty clear we are talking about Tarot.
The Logic was King of Pentacles. Business. Financial success, making money and working hard to enjoy the good things of life.
The Heart was the World. To be in the centre of my world, to feel complete, fulfilled.
The Price we have to pay. The Four of Swords. Take Time out. Reflect. Align your heart, head, soul, kundalini energy. Meditate.
Unhelpful influence – 7 of swords. Giving your power away to other things that don’t empower your journey/distraction. Escaping responsibility, commitment.
Unexpected influence – The Emperor – whew so discipline and determination come to the fore!
Helpful influence – Justice – finding balance, and getting your just desserts, cause and effect, the card of reciprocity, karma, what you give so you receive. What you put into life comes back.
Best way forward – 6 of cups. Moving forward by referring to the past for renewal and answers. Reconnecting to past happy times, shared values, friendships, harmony, childhood memories. What really matters, to find strength.
Was the the 6 of cups encouraging me to draw and play and doodle as I did in childhood to start the workbook (for want of a better word) and perhaps looking to the past includes returning to the kind of posts I used to do on Instagram?
Six of Cups….moving on by looking to the past for renewal…
It still seemed very vague to me, although doodling about it a few days later, definitely rooted me in a different vibe….there’s nothing pushy about this card, it’s more a card of remembering what you love and what warms the cockles of your heart to re-inspire. So I pulled a clarifying card. 7 of wands, get onto higher ground, get feisty, don’t get overwhelmed and do things one at a time, prioritise and if need be delegate. Ok so one step at a time and feisty?! Which I guess has to be, do one doodle (see above).
Where it’s leading, if you tie up loose ends and finish it! EXPANSION, NEW HORIZONS…
I know my real challenge is the 7 of swords! not committing or believe in it.
Do come and have a tarot reading with me, or indeed gift yourself a pack of cards and learn!
