A set back can hold a new opportunity

I pulled the Knight of cups again this week, which I always think is a nudge from the universe to perhaps explore its deeper meaning and take notice…

The knight is on a mission of the heart

That’s the beauty of pulling cards for yourself. You get to ponder, to explore, and find a meaning that means something to you. A lens through which to look at the day, your situation, your question.

A brand new opportunity to explore your heart’s desire…..

Along with the Ace of Pentacles, our card for the energy of the New Year, I pulled this Knight.

The ace of pentacles represented the ‘set back’ which surprised me at first glance, as the Devil seemed more appropriate for a sudden flare up of inflammation, or perhaps the 9 of swords, anxiety and stress, but I received the Ace of pentacles…so not necessarily a set back, more perhaps a brand new opportunity. But how? what? more clarity please…and so I pulled this Knight again.

Quick fire read…. a brand new opportunity to explore emotional depth/a creative project/fall in love!

I joke about ‘falling in love’ but that is held in the meaning of the card, and falling in love would ‘solve’ all my problems. Would be the instant change to my life, to me being set in my ways, to loneliness…..except there is something a bit flakey about the knight of cups. As romantic as he may be, he doesn’t necessarily ACT on his feelings, he enjoys feelings too much, he falls in love with love. Also he has a tendency to put his beloved on a pedestal from where she will definitely fall.

So whatever this knight’s mission is. And all knights are on a mission. Note to self…take ACTION. Although also noted, this knight moves forward in a deliberate but peaceful way.

I see the knight as his best as a rather noble altruistic person in search of beauty and harmony. He’s a diplomat. He has charm. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He is creative and intuitive, sensitive. He believes in true love and making the world a better place. An idealist and romantic. Why as I write this do I find his mission a bit sappy? And actually it matches my feelings of wanting to read more wonderful books, listen to beautiful music, paint, appreciate nature, love of beauty and kindness…..but does it feel a bit shallow, self absorbed…..vain?

The Knight of Cups also makes me think perhaps of a desire to complete a creative project that combines beauty harmony…..a beauty project? or something of more depth to offer?

As ever, and why I read tarot for others, I want to be told exactly what that might be, however it seems I will have to ponder the meaning of the Knight of cups for a bit longer for it to reveal its message.

Do come and have a tarot reading with me. It appears I am much better reading others than myself! Come to Battersea for an in person reading or let’s get online. WhatsApp video works so well. Good luck everyone at the start of this year….as its an interesting one, we know there’s going to be change….but what???
