Does a Tarot reading tell your future?

From my point of view…Tarot is not going to tell you your future

It will help you create the future you want happen. 

The fool fearlessly faces the unknown with faith and optimism.

It will help you navigate life in the direction you want to go.

And give you the insight and encouragement you need if you are feeling lost or alone 

The Hermit encourages us to follow our own inner light and truth to lead us on the path that is right for us

A reading might just be the conversation that that puts you back on track.

And give you the perfect advice to solve your ‘problem’

And restore confidence.  In yourself.  In life. And give you clarity you were seeking to know what to do.

It will encourage you to trust your own instincts (so often in a reading you realise your instincts were ‘right’ all along).

And leave feeling lighter and more optimistic.  Restored to your old self, the one who isn’t anxious and stressed and who can smile. 

The Sun symbolises positivity, energy, being able to materialise what we want out into the world!

It will help you activate the potential at hand and make decisions that are right for you 

I often say Tarot doesn’t give you certainty, but with more insight and guidance, it helps us live with uncertainty. I’d like to think a reading reminds us we have agency, to contribute and create our destiny in every thought, word and deed. And that it is in our choices that we activate new possibilities.

The Lovers remind us we have CHOICE. We choose our future in every thought action & deed.

Which is why I actually think Tarot is a healing modality. 

Even if it’s for a moment,  during the reading, at the end, immediately after, you have an experience of yourself, without the fear, the doubt, the anxiety, the indecision taking up your energy field. For a moment we are full restored to ourselves. The self that knows we have choices, there are options, and has the confidence, to follow our instincts. A tarot reading connects us to the self who knows what we want, what we stand for, desire and deserve.  And feels encouraged and optimistic. 

I have often thought when you come to a tarot reading you want the reader to tell you something wonderful in the future to beckon you onwards.  Of course we all do.

I have found my readings tend toward what is happening now, what is current. Because my belief is it is from this present moment, and the decisions we make that direct the course of our lives. My hope in a tarot reading is for to gain the confidence to navigate the present situation and you feel more empowered and positive about creating the future.

I have thought of a spread that would satisfy that part of us that wants to jump ahead, and know will I be safe, successful, in a relationship, have children ….it alleviates the pressure of having to navigate life in the NOW.

Besides if you pulled a card which was negative, you’d be living with that in front of you, how despondent you would be. 

As a reader I wonder about taking the risk.  And generally resist, or rather encourage my clients to resist.  For all the ‘good’ outcomes there will be ‘bad’ ones.  I had a reading which said my Mother was going to die imminently.  It completely changed my life.  I lived in dread for years. Seven to be precise. Still perhaps the reading altered my priority toward her that was better for both of us in the end.   Perhaps being told something terrible is ok too.

The mystery of Tarot and being a tarot reader deepens.
