The High Priestess intuits the mysteries of life
This morning I picked the High Priestess. My question to the Tarot was…how am I doing as a tarot reader? Do you have any advice or ideas for me to reflect on? Receiving the High Priestess, the Queen of wisdom and intuition, was a gift. Especially as I went for a card that was rather hidden.
How does the tarot do that? Give me a card that in a funny way of all the 78 tarot cards I would probably choose as the closest that reflects the skills of a tarot reader, and so offers encouragement as well as advice about how to develop my skills as a tarot reader.
What I loved when I picked the card was that suddenly a wonderful distant memory that I hadn’t thought about for years popped into my mind of a significantly happy time 30 years ago! I was learning to read energy at the Stillpoint institute in America with wonderful healer Meredith Young Sowers. Her book Agartha is well worth a read and about Meredith discovery and conversations with her guide, spiritual teacher and mentor Agartha. Meredith remains a dear friend and mentor today
On one retreat in Florida I flew there to join everyone from London. There were two particular friends I had made during the year’s course and so it was a joyous reunion. Lots of laughter, and dancing on the beach. They used to say (both bit younger than me) that we’d all met in a passed life and that I had been the High Priestess and they had been naughty teenagers starting their spiritual paths and constantly making mischievous spells, and that I would have to call them to order when they got out of hand. Saskia and Sharon. It was a magical time when we so enlivened and inspired by the energy medicine we were learning and by our teacher Meredith. It came at a time when I still thought being a TV producer was the most important aspect of my identity! Ha! This was long before I came across tarot and if someone had said you will become a professional tarot reader I would been incredulous. And alarmed!
The High Priestess has the wisdom to trust her intuition and the mystery of life
The High Priestess appears in a tarot reading to speak us of having the wisdom to trust our intuition and the mystery of life. The High Priestess is able to navigate duality between the ‘real’ world and the ‘spirit’ world. She understands duality wherein ‘good’ and ‘evil’ reside, dark beside light, male beside female, yin beside yang, physical material beside energy we can’t see. The unconscious and conscious. She understands this mysterious aspect of life. She holds a scroll that says Tora that symbolizes the memory past present future, held in the Akashic records, which apparently hold all the secrets of the world and which we can access with our intuition. She keeps the moon at her feet, her worldly emotions, in order to be able to access and connect to the mystery of this duality and at the same time navigate the ‘real’ world.
I always think the High Priestess just knows things intuitively. She seems wise, kind and to be trusted. I would like to think the card is both saying I have her qualities when I read tarot and also encourages me to continue to develop my intuition and connect to the ‘field’ where all things are known. Which reminds me to practice the Diamond Inlay protocol offered by another of my great teachers Donna Eden designed to do just that. I will take the hint!
Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online.
