Can Tarot help with your health?

Answer….Yes, especially your mental health.

In fact it is my ‘go to’ whenever I am feeling what I call m’fungled, a made up word for feeling ‘out of sorts’, undecided, insecure, anxious, uncertain and why the daily Reflection Card has become part of my morning practice, along with walking in the park, meditation, doing the DER (daily energy routine).  All essential parts to setting up the day feeling centred, whole, enough, with a sense of clarity and direction.

Recently however I have been having health issues (going through a bout of inflammation enough said) and have found Tarot extraordinarily insightful.

How can Tarot help with health issues?

I don’t use Tarot as a ‘diagnosis’ tool for that always go to a doctor. But I have found it can certainly describe what is going on and give good advice.

Today for example with quite a lot of pain in my wrists I thought what is going on? Conscious that having reduced the steroids as advised the pain is back. So not cured yet!

I pulled the five of swords.  It’s a nasty card that shows someone with a bit of a smirk on his face holding three swords having left two behind him. How perfectly the five of swords described the fact that something is undermining my health! I stared at the card trying to understand its meaning for me.

What is the meaning of the five of swords?

Clearly it’s not a time to get overconfident that you have won ‘the battle’ but rather there’s something you are missing…some misunderstanding perhaps.

The five of swords also asks is there some self sabotage behavior going on.  It sometimes speaks to a fight that you’ve lost in the sense that it was not worth the win…I always talk about unfinished business when I see the five of swords, things unravelling because of misunderstandings e.g. things unsaid that should have been said, things said (that hurt) that should be taken back. See the over confident smile on the man holding three swords while two others are in retreat, their swords left on the ground. There’s a feeling of not having crossed the t’s or dotted the i’s…of having left things undone that might come back and stab you in the back.

Yikes!

And so I pulled a card asking for a bit more context and pulled the 8 of pentacles which reassured me.  Whew it’s the card which basically says this is going to take work!  So I’m not necessarily guilty of not doing enough!

The 8 of pentacles is a card about ‘work in progress’, it’s the card of needing to work that bit more, to perfect a situation, a the card of being prepared to do the boring stuff, pay attention to detail, for success, that extra health, wealth, luck, you get with the 9 of pentacles because of all your hard work!

Don’t be overconfident, there’s work to be done!

At least the context seems to be yes it is going to take effort, but you’ll get there in the end. It is a fight you can ultimately win.  At least that’s how I am reading it.

Next my thoughts started asking ‘So what information am I missing, what might help, what advice do you have for me?’ and I got the Ace of Wands.

Hmm a brand new inspiration. The spark that ignites the match.  Something new inspiration?  And now I am racking my brain to think what that might be.  Energy Medicine. Chinese herbs. Qi gong. Red light therapy.   How to reduce inflammation?  A new diet (eurgh),a new health plan or exercise regime, clearly I am being asked to be inspired. Find inspiration.

It seems I need to get re-inspired!  And perhaps we are also talking about being more spiritually inspired?

‘Working’ with the cards is the fun of the daily reflection card practice!  Working out what they mean to you.  Key is your own interpretation.  Key is trusting your own intuition.  Hence another reason why Tarot is such a brilliant tool for teaching us to trust ourselves and trust our connection and partnership to the divine intelligence and love of the universe!

Do come and have an online reading with me soon.  I’m away for the week and will be so happy to meet you online.
