The four of pentacles begs the question…..

Are you holding on too tight?

or

You need to hold on tight to what you have attained?

holding on too tight or not tight enough??

Holding on too tight or not holding on enough?

I pulled this card for some insight on how to approach the beginning of September, back to work, back to school, a new term ,the beginning of a new school year.

The undeniable nip in the air signals the change of season, from Summer to Autumn.  And what a summer we’ve had, day after a day of glorious sunshine, the only consideration how to make the most of it, and sometimes how to cope with the heat!

But now with the awareness that days are shortening, its getting dark much earlier, comes (for me) a feeling of pressure about this new season, with less light in the day, everything dying off, curled up leaves are already on the ground, heading into winter …... with that questions like….where am I heading, where do I want to head, what do I want to achieve? What do I want?    What should I be activating?

And today its actually raining!

The four of pentacles doesn’t strike me as the most inspiring card for this moment….first glance makes me think oh this man looks stuck, he can’t move, he’s holding onto his four pentacles far too tightly. Is there scarcity? A problem?

Is the four of pentacles saying don’t go anywhere, hold on, or is he saying you are holding on too tight….let go?

The Four of Pentacles can’t move ……

The four of pentacles coming after the three of pentacles when we’ve made plans from which to build foundations, now at the four level, it may be more sensible to consolidate, ground those plans. For all sorts of reasons. It may be you don’t have the energy, or the finances, to move forward, and that what is important to acknowledge is the need to ground your energy, build on the three, the four making a nice solid square.

Perhaps the four of pentacles is asking us to consider what we have gained, established, learned, and the need to hold onto our position and integrate, consolidate, ground, before moving on.

Here are two earlier blogs on the four of pentacles with different perspectives.

Do come and have a tarot reading with me in battersea or online. What I have learned over the years is that Tarot is not always clear cut, the interpretation of a card or reading can be multi faceted.
