What does the four of pentacles mean?

the four of pentacles tarot card

The Four of Pentacles is holding onto his energy….

First, just look at the card, it says it all. The man looks like he can’t move because he’s having to/or choosing to hold onto four pentacles!

Pentacles represent the earth element.  The four makes up the four sides of a square. Now we have stability, stand on solid ground.  Coins/pentacles represent the energy of money as well as our physical energy.

So when we get the Four of Pentacles questions we can ask ourselves are…

Is this a situation where consolidation is needed?  i.e where we need to hold onto our energy?

Is the card speaking to the health of our physical body or to our financial health?  The Four of Pentacles can describe a moment when we need to be careful not to expend more energy than we have.  Perhaps it’s not the time to spend but more a time to conserve, a time to hold onto what we have got.

Or perhaps we are holding on too tightly?  The four of Pentacles often expresses feeling ‘stuck’. Again looking at the card, he does look rather stuck.  He can’t move and keep hold the two pentacles under both feet as well as another on top of his head!

I got this card this morning as my Daily Reflection card on how to ‘play’ my health today. Receiving the four of pentacles immediately said to me, ground, consolidate, stay still, because I know the opposite can’t apply!  Funnily enough the four of pentacles perfectly describes the stiffness in my hands, wrists, and arms as they aren’t moving well! Coincidentally in Energy Medicine which I practice, the key to recovering from an illness or any kind of self care is grounding.

three of cups

The three of cups represents celebration, engagement, connection,

I pulled a tell me more and received the three of cups.  Celebration, connection, engagement, collaboration, enjoyment…..which slightly made me wonder whether abstemiousness (see my blog on the 3 of swords) is necessary??  Am going to have to reflect on that over the day.

I highly recommend everyone get their own deck of tarot cards and see what they tell you. I find them invaluable to my daily self care routine. Ideally I head into the park first thing in the morning (today, walking in the grass in bare feet to ground myself!) while doing the daily energy routine. followed by 15 min Qi gong breathe meditation ending with pulling the Tarot Daily Reflection card and then I’m ready for the day…

Do have a tarot reading with me so that we can figure out what is going on and what is the best way forward and receive some wisdom insight and clarity from the Tarot.
