Will I receive Justice?
A pyramid tarot reading…..read from bottom right to left, the question, the essence, the head and the heart of the matter….
Justice was the card that represented the ‘essence’ of my pyramid tarot reading this week….and yesterday Justice came up twice in a reading for a client….which got me wanting to explore further …..
My first thought as this woman (justice of truth and peace) holds up her sword of truth is, this is who I am, this is what I think! In her other hand she holds the scales of fairness and compassion, symbolising the skill of balancing both aspects.
Empowered but fair decision making…
On a personal level the poem ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling that has really helped me understand this card.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on”;
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings—nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run—
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
What appeals to me about this poem is the idea of being true to yourself without the need to justify, be overly opinionated or assertive, there’s an idea of having the integrity to holding space for your true self, be fully authentic self and not lose one’s nerve if people around you don’t appreciate or oppose.
There’s an objectivity to this card which says do the ‘right’ thing (keep your integrity) whatever, and reminds us actions carry consequences, so there’s the feeling of setting yourself to being truthful to yourself 100% and at the same time able allow others their ‘truth’. The idea of ‘suffer fools’ perhaps, suffer the ‘slings and arrows’ from others.
At the same time in a reading and to the question will I get justice? I think yes …….if you deserve it, Justice is fair.
In terms of the ‘Essence’ of the page of cups venture, I am reminded also to ‘set this up properly, the power of cause and effect, without cause/action there will be no effect. So holding up the sword means stand up for yourself/take action and the scales indicate the need for balance.
It is a card like the wheel of fortune there’s an element of Karma. Cause and Effect. Set it up fairly. Do it justice.
Hmm
I’m afraid I ended up googling and found this piece of advice ‘Step into accountability for empowered decision making…’
I like that the best.
Do come and have a tarot reading with me online or in person in Battersea and we can figure things out together.
