Can Tarot help us have a break-through?

(Tarot reaches the parts other self-care practices can’t reach….for anyone who remembers the Heineken ads)

A unique aspect of a Tarot reading …it is the way it is able to draw out of us what really matters! Often just one card gives us the clarity we are looking for.

Also in my experience half the time we don’t give ourselves permission to actually voice, to ourselves, let alone anyone else, what we really think, want, what really inspires.

Half the time it’s lost in the day to day, we’re almost unconscious, it’s too vague, unrealistic, perhaps too big for us to dare to consider or there are other challenges to contend with.

Just giving ourselves the time to have a tarot reading may be all it takes to get the clarity we need to have a break-through. All we needed was the space with an impartial sounding board (one way to describe a tarot reading) that reflects back to you a bit of insight, some fresh perspective, some guidance so that you are restored to yourself.

Tarot for when you are at a crossroads ?

I have found some of the most invaluable readings happen when someone comes to me and says I have absolutely no idea what to do.

After starting with the Celtic cross, a ten card reading that gives a snap shot of what is going on, the root of matter, the potential ahead and past influence. We move on to specifics and I suggest we pull cards for all/any of the different ideas, the β€˜what ifs’, and if people say they have no idea I just say β€˜well, if you did know, what comes to mind?’  Slowly by pulling cards one by one on all the β€˜what if’ ideas, thoughts, we invariably come to the one that appeared to be tucked away right in the back of our mind…..and what I call an β€˜Ah Ha’ moment!  (Very well represented by Judgement card below)

The wake up call, when you hear it loud and clear!

It is a breakthrough moment, because invariably the tarot card that is reflected back says it loud and clear.  Yes!  Someone in a google review said last week β€˜it was as if you were pulling threads out of my mind and putting them on the table’.

I have found as soon as we are able to say out loud what we really want, we can’t help but move in that direction.

Saying it out loud is key!  Another reason why a reading is helpful, we are speaking, YOU are speaking out-loud.  And if you are having a reading with me, you are recording it too:-)

We all know the mind/brain is very literal and believes what it is told (think of affirmations, we are always told to say them as if they are happening in the present moment), and then think of the affect of a negative thought on us?! It is recognised that there is even more power to saying something out loud, it makes it real to you, let alone (and) your mind. Now you’ve said it, the mind and body respond, move toward it, desire is recognised, the match is struck, the flame is lit, you have clarity and can take the first step.

This is how we create our future.

I had one of these seminal moments years ago when I said out loud to a group (it was in a workshop with Chuck Spezzano 30 plus years ago) that I wanted to be TV producer ….once I said it, I knew it was my secret greatest desire, that I’d never dared to say to myself let alone a group, it seems so way beyond me. But the moment I said it,  I knew I wanted it. I was committed! It took me a few years until I produced my first comedy TV series, but I did it.

This is the quote that kept me on my path attributed to both Goethe and the explorer Murray

β€œUntil one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back β€” concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.β€œ

The decision is made, we set our mind, we commit to take action!

I left advertising, I was 40 years old, I’d never even worked in TV, who was going to employ a 40 year old who didn’t know anything about TV to be their assistant (plus would be older than them). The odds were stacked but once I’d said out loud what I wanted to do most in the world, I couldn’t give up.

Breakthrough! rainbow

The appearance of this rainbow felt like a sign, an β€˜Ah ha’ moment….

I can’t promise that kind of breakthrough, but with Tarot step by step we are inspired, advised, encouraged and supported in our endeavours. Having a reading helps set intentions, decide on the best way forward and gain a fresh perspective as we progress.

Another benefit of Tarot, is that it is unbiased, the cards have no agenda and are pulled randomly by you (or me when we are having an online reading and I have no agenda except that I hope the reading will be useful to you). You don’t get the layer opinion from friend or family added. Indeed it is miraculous how the cards reflect back insight and meaning that resonates so that we can trust our own instincts and follow our hearts desire, we can solve our problems, meet our challenges, along the way.

Do come and have a tarot reading with me you’ll be giving yourself the gift of time and a space to explore where you are and find the clarity and encouragement you need. We can have a session online or come to me in Battersea for an in person reading.
