Navigating the Threshold from Summer to Autumn

Anyone else feel slightly daunted this Monday,  1st September 2025?  The Monday that signals back to work, the end of the summer holidays and the start of Autumn, and by the look of the leaves already shed in Battersea park, Autumn started in August and so I already feel behind the seasons and the need to catch up.

This Monday also heralds ‘back to school’ and not only the start of a new school term but the start of a whole new school year.  So it comes with a sort of challenge.

What are you going to do with your life this year?!?

Looking for that brand new spark of inspiration with the Ace of Wands

I’ve been feeling panicky because I still feel unclear about the direction I want to head ….as yet.

And then I lucked out by listening to Janie Chandler’s Rich Conversation no 8  ‘Investing in Your Equity of Grace’ yesterday morning. https://energymedicinenow/richconversations.com

And am feeling greatly relieved and almost reset! She spoke so wisely about thinking of this moment as a threshold.  A threshold from a season of bloom to a season when we harvest the gems and nuggetts of what has transpired, the yield. However it is by cutting away the chaff we find the ultimate seed, the fruit that has grown.

This season comprises, cleaning, pairing, discarding (part of plants no longer of use) shaking off clinging earth, allowing everything to die back to become the rich compost for next year.  All part of the cycles of life. Gestation, birth, fruition, decline.

Beginning, middle, end, cycles can last a day or a lifetime and resistance to them is futile.  The Buddha says ‘attachment’ is the source of all our suffering. Attachment to things remaining the way they are, or the way we want them to be. Children evolve and transform and leave the nest.  We can cling and suffer along the way.  Or we can be Allowing and Accepting and let things transform.  In Energy Medicine we know that everything is Energy and that energy has to move. It doesn’t die it just transforms into something else.

We know there is a next step but if we regretfully look at the door that is closed, we’ll miss the new door.

And I’ve been doing that a bit. Comparing myself to others and unsure about the direction I am heading in. And not sure how to steer myself so to speak. I’ve been pondering it for a while and thought by the 1st September I should know. Especially as a tarot reader!

Good news however….I’ve got till the autumn equinox September 21st before autumn/beginning of winter is officially declared. So I have time still for this step across the Threshold.  There’s no need to look at the closing door in panic.

Janie reminds me there’s a Let go before we can even see the next step.   I’d also lost faith in letting go without having an answer. Faith exists in the willingness and allowing to the unfolding of circumstances. And an opportunity to draw on the nuggets of gold from our ‘equity of grace’ (the savings account to which we have been contributing…) for the next step to unfold.

Harvesting Abundance from our Equity of Grace…

Janie suggests we mindfully choose to meet this moment with an open heart and mind. She talks of the benefit of extending grace to ourselves and especially to others. To choose compassion over judgement, forgiveness over resentment, and extend kindness. Kindness, that most regenerative of powers.

The Threshold also has an interesting conundrum to it. The conundrum of what to let go of and what or where you might put in a little more effort?

With questions like.  Am I trying to make something that isn’t meant to happen or am I pursuing /persisting toward the right choice? or not?

Try harder ? or surrender and let go?

Which is where a tarot reading can come in handy. And why I’ve been especially motivated to design a spread to help me (and us) find answers to this conundrum.

This tarot reading goes like this. 7 cards, because at the 7 level in tarot, anything is possible with a little conscious grounding, wisdom and persistence. Card no 1 is for where we are now in relation to this new cycle, 2 is what golden nuggets we can harvest from the past cycle, 3 where to surrender/ let go, 4 where to put our energy, 5 unforeseen helpful influence, 6 best course of action to activate this new cycle (how to step over the threshold), , and 7 where its leading. I shall report back my reading in the next blog.

It’s worth mention often a new cycle is a new iteration, not the end of a cycle and the beginning of a brand new one, but more a renewal, a bigger and wider spiral, that forms out of the past spiral; a transformation.

This happens to relationships all the time! There is a dying off, a composting, and with it the gestation of a new cycle, a new iteration.

The Gems and nuggets are the essence of what we are bringing (the harvest) with us into this new iteration, this new season.

Do come and have a tarot reading with me in Battersea or online because it turns out it is a potent time to reflect on how we step over the threshold into a new year.
