Tarot does give good insight and guidance

Tarot does deliver very good insight and guidance…

In a tarot card reading every card can reflect a situation in some way or other, sometimes negative and sometimes positive.  What I find in readings is the card always gives us both.

When we feel emotionally impoverished…..

Yes on the one hand for example the five of pentacles reflects feelings of isolation, being left out in the cold, ‘everyone else is doing something better than me’, when we feel impoverished of community and support……whats so insightful about this card is not only does it accurately reflect how we might be feeling it also gives us a hint about how to resolve the situation.  See the bright light coming from the stain glass windows of the church and how welcoming they look?  The advice is don’t hang around outside feeling sorry for yourself, go into the church, find your community, find your kind, ask for the help you need, pick up the phone.  The support you need from your community is there.  Go and find it.

And this morning, I asked the Tarot for a reflection card to write about.  A bit of a general question I know, but I know the Tarot and I knew ‘she’ would have some insight for me, besides giving me a topic to write about!

Strength major arcana tarot card

She manages to tame the Ego by communicating in peace…

Strength.  In some ways describes the dance of negotiation between the lovely lady in white and the ego of a lion  She is trying to find a way of being able to express her true intentions without ruffling his ego.   As in the illustration, the woman in white bends over the lion and seems to be holding his mouth gently closed in her hands, in order for him to listen and hear what she wishes to communicate, her pure intention. It takes a certain kind of courage to ‘tame’ a lion, so she needs to be brave and make sure she’s not confrontational, and instead comes from a place of peace and inner strength.

OMG how hard is that when you know how dangerous it might be to express what you feel without causing more conflict.

How do you get a wild animal and king of the jungle to listen let alone take on your point of view? I see this a lot in tarot readings in relationships, when the balance of power is a bit off and one side has more power than the other.  Or one partner is more volatile than the other. The Strength card teaches us that sometimes we have to be a bit cunning and seductive to get a strong Ego to listen.  And indeed often this kind of negotiation can apply to ourselves and our own Ego.  One part of us wants to come from pure intention and have the inner strength to do so while the ego wants to follow his/her desires.

But this card for me, perfectly describes the struggle I’ve been going through …..And am still going through. Trying to come up with a way I can be true to myself and express how I feel without upsetting my sister!  Who is not known for clemency and listening but more for losing her patience, shouting and putting the phone down.

Stressing about how to express how you truly feel without causing conflict

And it’s stressing me out ! It’s crazy how much time my mind is spending so much time on a row we had a week ago and how I can defend my position, express it even?!   Nine of Swords was my clarification card. Feeling very stressed about it, and thinking about it way too much. Still receiving the strength card inspires me to find a way.  At least with a week past my fury has abated a bit….so perhaps I will find a moment.  And if I don’t then I’ll just have to move on, its in the past.  9 of Swords. Unnecessary anxiety about something in the past, that has already happened, that you can’t do anything about….except accept the truth of the situation with inner strength and resolve.

What I feel about the Strength card is there’s a sense of inner strength and confidence in being able to express your ‘truth’ without the Ego. Which I very much admire.
