The pleasure of having a tarot reading
Did you know looking at a beautiful view is good for your liver?
Looking at a horizon…..specifically
Om…….
I didn’t, but what a great excuse to stare into the distance, which is what I found myself doing a lot in Mallorca. Literally I found myself staring into the distance as if in a trance? Hypnotised it seemed by the combination of sound and beauty, the blanket of sound from the cicadas and trees that stretched across the valley, like the Om in meditation put me under a spell. It was a wonderful.
So staring off into space is something I am going to enjoy more and more – I thought it was an old age thing – but who cares if its nourishing my liver and giving it the balance of beauty and sensuality versus worrying, thinking of achieving things, the to do list, etc etc which is what my brain wants to do most of the time. So another new habit I am developing in my growing happiness day by day practice!
In Tarot you might compare this state to the Hanged Man, who is hanging upside down looking at life from a completely different view. Staring into space, in limbo. Contemplating surrender, letting go, and its for his enlightenment. For consciousness. See the halo around his head.
Hanging in limbo waiting for enlightenment.
Suggesting a recalibration. A realignment perhaps. A pause definitely. You’re not going away when you are hanging from a tree. A fallow period. Time to shed old skin for new. In limbo and not sure how to emerge.
But I digress from the benefit of enjoying beauty and how nourishing it is to our soul. And as it turns out our Liver, the organ responsible for the health of our eyes, so the Eyes of the Soul. The pleasure of staring off into the distance and being entranced. P.S. Chinese medicine is more specific and says stare at the horizon.
This man looks very pleased with life…..
Which brings me to the nine of cups that I pulled as a reflection card for the day and why I felt I had permission to wax lyrical about remembering to enjoy the simple pleasures of life that make us happy. The daily pleasures available of beauty and taste and smell and touch. The nine of cups indulges himself. He makes himself happy. Now and then is what I am suggesting, not so that pleasure becomes our focus and an over indulgence. But let’s savour these moments, and build a practice of experiencing happiness every day and being grateful. So an essential spiritual practice
