A very good reason to have a tarot reading is just to have a ‘check-in’…..there’s nothing specific, no particular concerns, but a feeling that a ‘check-in’ will be good for well being, will reconnect us to ‘source’ for want of a better word, our essence, divine guidance, to what is conscious and unconscious and put it on the table. And by bringing everything to the surface, out in the open we gain clarity.
Everyone is uniquely different and what we are looking for from a tarot reading is entirely different. Some of us are looking for purpose, some of us want to feel more agency in our lives, some of us are looking for love, some of us are just unclear about a particular situation or relationship.

Card no 1. Where we are……
THE MOON
Under the light of the moon I often feel that she shines a light into our longing, our dreams, what we wish for that is all a bit elusive, unreal, even to ourselves, buried in the unconscious. Like our dreams that can feel so vivid, so real and yet they aren’t, illusion, delusion, confusion, fantastic, disturbing, weird very often! Unclear, a muddle.
So it’s hard to find a concrete description of the Moon because of it’s a deeply emotional nature whereby contradictory emotions co-exist and so it can be psychologically (psyche) troubling. Hope, fear, doubt, may cloud our thinking. What is fantasy, illusion, delusion, deception, what is projection. Equally we might ask ourselves ‘what are we longing for by the light of the silvery moon? These are the questions the Moon asks of us.
If there was even a card that said I need clarity!
If there was ever a card that asks ‘what are your unconscious fears and doubts?’ ‘ What are you longing for?’ real, not real? its the Moon.
The illustration on the card tells the story, the Moon asks us to face our inner demons, shine a light in the shadowy corners of our psyche and bring things out into the open. Once out of the shadows there’s even a promise of getting to the SUN if we do.
At the same time just as our dreams demonstrate the most extraordinary creativity, and so it can be of great benefit to loiter with exploratory intent in her territory, what as yet is unconscious, and ask what we long to bring to consciousness.
Bottom line with the Moon, emotions are running deep, they may be unclear, mixed, difficult to name. Be curious, shine a light on them….

The TWO of Cups. An Emotional Choice
Soul mates, a partnership based in friendship, in equality….
What emotional choice do we want to make seems to be the challenge? The Two of Cups is a card that speaks of partnership, soulmates, a relationship based in friendship, at its heart the card represents our desire for connection to someone or something we love.
I read this card not just about the desire to connect to any individual but also something we love, a career, hobby, music, sister, brother…the divine.
Card no 3. Best Course of Action
SIX OF WANDS
a time to celebrate yourself and be seen….don’t hide your light under a bushel…
The six of wands speaks of being seen, recognised, respected, congratulated because of your innate skills. Skills that you have developed and worked hard to achieve, and at the heart of it is your special talent.
I said to my client go and be a show off…..don’t hide your light under a bushel…..own your achievements, be visible, take centre stage, show others who you are. Celebrate where you are….what you have become with others, share your fire, your unique sparkle.
The six of wands is a card of mutual respect and recognition. It is a card that asks us to celebrate our wins and the wins of others. To congratulate and recognse each other.
We can spread our wings and feel free (of fear doubt insecurity etc) for now at least. It goes without saying there’s a humility that goes with this card, because we our celebrating our innate, god given talents, yes we’ve done some hard work but it’s a time for celebration and gratitude.
