What’s the meaning of the Ten of Swords? (part 1)
10 of swords represents the big ‘let go’…..when we have to let go of control, of ourselves, and/or others…
If you struggle you will bleed to death …….let go for a new dawn (on the horizon)
The ten of swords speaks of the need to let go of ‘identity’ or perhaps our identification to a situation…..for a new dawn.
When you are in ten of swords territory things are beyond our control…..and indeed things are happening that (we probably don’t like) because they are out of our control.
And we all know feeling ‘in control’ is a key aspect of feeling Ok about ourselves and our world, because we feel secure. The ten of swords tarot card does indeed look painful.
Therein lies the demands of the 10 of swords
Because if we have to let go of the security of our beliefs, that what we think is right, then who are we? and what are we meant to be? The Ten of Swords is closely associated with the Death card, the end of an era, the beginning of a new, that requires letting go of the past and the past version of ourselves.
So much of our identity comes from identifying with what we believe we are, our thoughts, what we do etc.

I think……..therefore I am?
It was the great philosopher Descartes who said this and indeed many many years ago, I remember having this dawning realisation on a walk in the Peak District and thinking it was my own, that I’d discovered a magic truth!
Now I think what a limiting truth and rather that most of us are at the mercy of our beliefs.
Yes our thoughts and ideas and beliefs make us who we are but what about the mystery of our soul, our intuition, dreams, our compassion, sense of humour, kindness, creativity, ancestry, what about our physical body! There is so much more to being human, however it is our beliefs that control us. Which is where the lesson of the 10 of swords comes into play.
A Eureka moment, when a rainbow comes out and you think it is a sign from the universe speaking directly to you!
