What does it mean when you get the Fool in a tarot reading?
A brand new journey….taking a leap of faith….into the unknown…..
A brand new journey, a leap of faith, into the unknown…
I love the image of the Fool, gaily setting off with a small overnight bag on his staff, holding a white rose of innocence and purity, a cheerful tunic with scarlet sleeves and oranges, head held high (even though there’s every chance if he doesn’t look down he’ll fall over the cliff) his faithful dog beside him will hopefully bark his alert!
Still a new journey, as exciting as its sounds, is bound to have its risks. We are facing the unknown and while faith and trust are encouraged in this cheerful looking tarot card…it’s worth considering that there will be challenges and opportunities to grow, or fail, in equal measure. Not knowing or having the necessary skill and experience right now is part of the journey. Which is why faith trust optimism, coming from the purest intentions (leaving behind any old baggage) is a good start. And courage as clearly there is much to learn!
So much will depend on how we go about this new journey…..
Curious (just like the Fool) I pulled another card for a little more insight into my situation….
I pulled the seven of words…..which begs the question ‘to whom or what might you give your power away?
A slightly cautionary card….hmm….listening to others, giving my power to an authority figure, doubting myself, letting myself down, disempowering myself with fearful thoughts….there are a million ways we do give our power away and loose our sense of autonomy and agency.
What would help in this situation I wondered? I pulled another card.
The King of Wands.
Don’t give your power away to others….embrace your visionary self….
is one way to read these two cards together as the king of wands is the entrepreneur and master of inspiration, a visionary in the sense of having an idea with the passion to get things done, he can’t help himself he’s driven by fire and passion. A creator, achiever, leader whose passion fuels his ability to follow through. I can see how the King of Wands relates to the Fool. He takes risks, takes bold leaps of faith into unknown territory, key aspects of the entrepreneur. And having grown through the wands suit, from the ace of wands, when inspiration first strikes he has the maturity of a King and in the domain of creativity. Now he knows how it’s done, and is the inspirational leader quite prepared to delegate to succeed. Call me old fashioned but I always think of Richard Branson when I see the King of Wands. You know if he was in the room his self confidence and charisma would emanate success and yet he’s failed a million times too. He’s taken leaps of faith into the unknown….
Interesting …it feels like I either have to find a King of Wands to work with me, or follow my inspiration to take that leap of faith into the unknown and more importantly follow through! And succeed in the end…..
