The power of Imagination in Tarot
The power of imagination and creativity in tarot
Hereβs an example of how we can use a tarot card to infuse its message into our being and our dayβ¦ just by looking at the illustration and seeing what feelings, thoughts occurβ¦
When I first see the page of cups I think, heβs the kind of person who wears his heart on his sleeve, is a romantic, idealist, creative, a bit of a dreamer, curious. Curious because after all heβs communing with a fish.
The fish peeking out of the cup he is holding, looks like heβs speaking to this page, or at least has a message. A moving sea (of motion/emotion/ imagination/spirituality) is behind him. Perhaps the fish jumped out of the sea and into the cup as if to sayβ¦..hello young woman, surprise! β¦.. you are not dreamingβ¦.. dreams do come true.
You certainly need some imagination to come up with a likely scenario for this card, and this is where our individual creativity comes into playβ¦.PLAY being the operative word also for the page of cups, heβs curious, open hearted, funβ¦. heβs immature certainly, you could say naΓ―ve, but his openness and willingness to experiment is the message he brings to me this morning.
So are we being asked to play around with our dreams, our instincts, ideas that arenβt fully formed, early creative impulses, explore new ideas that we might have ignored as they seem a bit idealistic.
Perhaps the fish is saying to the page of cups help me jump back into the sea of spirituality emotion, creativity, β¦.they do seem to be looking at each other eye to eye.
The colourful tunic and head dress decorated with lilies seem significant. Lilly or Lotus. Both flower beautifully on the surface of the water while their roots are a long way down in the mud. Again suggestions of new creative ideas, opportunitiesβ¦coming out of mud/the bottom of our mind/our subconscious mind.
Lotus flowers blossom on this pageβs tunic heralding new creative impulsesβ¦.
Beauty that grows out of the depthsβ¦magic that flowers out of creativity and imagination. This card reminds me of poetry and wishful thinking and being a bit dreamy.
Iβm going to open myself up to seeing what unexpected idea pops into my mindβ¦. a nudge from my psyche even.
Already curiosity seems a lot more fun to approach the day than βWhat is the right thing to be doing?!β
I canβt recommend more, having your own tarot deck and pulling a card now and then to see where your imagination leads youβ¦(see a blog from last year about the page of cupsβ¦
Do come and have a reading with me online or in person in Battersea, it is fun and you will definitely leave feeling curious and hopeful.
